FORT BEND COUNTY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 142 WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION TO 1.2 MILLION GALLON PER DAY (MGD)
Construction Cost: $ 25.7M
Status: Construction

Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 142 (FBCMUD 142) would like to announce the completion of the new 1.2 MMGPD permanent waste treatment plant.

The District previously had 2 leased “package” Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP):

  1. The 0.9 MGD WWTP No. 1 served the communities within the District north of Fulshear-Gaston Rd.
  2. The 0.2 MGD Creekside Ranch WWTP served the Creekside Ranch community south of Fulshear-Gaston Rd.

This new permanent plant will replace the existing leased plants the district has used since its initial development.

The District prioritized replacing the aging package treatment plants with a permanent WWTP that can serve the entire District. The new WWTP will substantially reduce the cost of treating the District’s wastewater since the expensive leased package plants will no longer be needed. The District opted to include reclaimed water storage and pump facilities in the permanent WWTP project. The reclaimed water facilities will allow wastewater from the WWTP to maintain the water levels of the amenity lakes within the Westheimer Lakes community.

The water recycling systems will also open the district to the possibility of purple pipe irrigation in the future. Purple pipes conserve drinking water by using reclaimed water for irrigation, cooling, and cleaning. By reducing the strain on freshwater resources, lowering wastewater discharge, cutting costs, and supporting sustainability, this will work towards making the district more resilient and eco-friendlier.
