FBMUD 142 District Park: A New Community Space Is Taking Shape

Fort Bend County MUD 142 (FBMUD 142) is developing a new District Park along Fulshear-Gaston Road that will introduce play spaces, trails, water-focused amenities, and community gathering areas to the District. Led by the District’s Board of Directors, the park is designed to support creative and immersive play, encourage water awareness and environmental care, and provide shared outdoor spaces that promote health, learning, and community connection.

Park Overview

  • Location: Along Fulshear-Gaston Road
  • Size: 7.02 acres
  • Setting: Former undeveloped greenfield site
  • Key Features: Playground, splash pad, open lawn, multi-use trails, pavilion, educational elements
  • Purpose: Recreation, environmental education, and community connection

Design & Environment

The park’s design focused on transforming a previously undeveloped site into a vibrant outdoor space for the community to live, work and play.

Some of the key environmental features include:

  • Native grasses, shrubs, grasses and groundcover to support pollinators and local wildlife
  • Landscape strategies that reduce and manage water runoff, erosion, and limit long-term irrigation needs
  • Integrated stormwater features

Commitment to Sustainable Landscapes

This park is pursuing the Sustainable SITES Initiative® (SITES), a national program that guides how parks and landscapes are planned and built. SITES focuses on protecting water, caring for the land, and creating places that last.

Pursuing SITES supports the District’s work in water conservation and responsible land use. The park’s design includes features that help manage stormwater, reduce water use, and teach visitors about the natural environment. Together, these elements reflect the District’s commitment to protecting resources while creating a park the community can enjoy.

Park Features

Inspired by a fishing village theme, the park’s play spaces are designed to encourage creativity, exploration, and inclusive play for visitors of all ages.

Planned features include:

  • Playground and splash pad designed to support active and imaginative play
  • Flexible open lawn space for informal recreation and community gatherings
  • Multi-use trails for walking, jogging, and biking that enhance overall neighborhood connectivity
  • Open-air pavilion for shade and informal gathering
  • Shaded seating and parent zones
  • Educational opportunities through interactive exhibits and design elements

Together, these features are intended to support physical activity, learning, relaxation, and opportunities for neighbors to connect.

Long-Term Planning

This park represents part of the District’s broader approach to thoughtfully planning public spaces that balance recreation, environmental consideration, and long-term community value. As development within the District continues, Board of Directors will evaluate future opportunities to enhance connectivity, outdoor access, and shared amenities in ways that best serve residents and align with the District’s responsibilities.
