How to Start or Stop Water Service

Step 1: Contact Inframark to Request Service

All water service requests for MUD 142 are handled by Inframark. New homeowners or renters must submit a start-service request directly through Inframark.

Step 2: Provide Required Information

When submitting the request, residents should be prepared to provide:

  • Service address
  • Move-in date
  • Contact information
  • Proof of occupancy (such as a lease or closing documents, if requested)
  • Payment for required security deposit
    • Typically between $150 and $500, depending on occupancy type and account history.
    • Deposit amounts are set by the District's Rate Order

Step 3: Account Setup & Service Activation

Once the request is processed and all requirements are met, Inframark will establish the account and schedule water service activation. In many cases, service can be activated without an onsite visit.

Step 4: Confirm Service & Billing Details

After service begins, residents should confirm:

  • Water is flowing properly
  • Billing information is correct
  • They are signed up for online account access and alerts, if desired
  • Check for leaks or unexpected water usage
  • Sign up for EyeOnWater to monitor usage and help detect leaks early

How to Stop Water Service (Moving Out)

Residents who are moving out should contact Inframark to request a stop-service date to avoid billing after vacating the property. Stop-service requests can be submitted through the online portal or by contacting customer service directly.

Please note:

  • Stop-service requests should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance (Monday–Thursday)
  • A final bill will typically be generated within 30–60 days after service is disconnected
  • Any deposit on file will be applied to the final account balance
  • If a credit balance remains after the final bill is processed, a refund check will be mailed to the forwarding address on file within approximately 6–8 weeks
