The Board of Directors of Fort Bend Co. Municipal Utility District No. 142 (FBMUD 142) want to take this opportunity to update residents regarding the planned Westheimer Lakes Channel and Andrus Creek improvements.
As a bit of history, design of the Westheimer Lakes Channel was originally completed in 2003. For almost 20 years the channel has served the Westheimer Lakes sections. In that time the surrounding area has seen an increase in rainfall totals and multiple historical high precipitation rates. As a result of Hurricane Harvey (2017) and the release of revised rainfall values for the county, Fort Bend County Drainage District adopted a modified design criteria for storm water conveyance systems, increasing the requirements for capacity.
The Board has authorized an engineering project to provide improvements to the Westheimer Lakes Channel and downstream improvements to Andrus Creek. The purpose of this analysis and design is to provide a solution which lowers the 100-year storm water surface elevation within the existing channel. The resulting solution will be effective and efficient for the benefit of drainage in The District.
